Carbon Monoxide Detectors and Fire Extinguishers to be Added to Product Assortment on www.DisasterAndEmergencyKits.com

DEL MAR, Calif., Sept. 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Homeland Security Technology Inc. (Pink Sheets:HSTJ) announced today that its soon to be unveiled "e-commerce" business www.DisasterAndEmergencyKits.com, will have available on the site comprehensive guides to assist in preparing people for terrorists attacks and natural disasters. On the site are two separate sections providing preparation checklists and emergency procedures in case of such emergencies. These guides are in addition to the over 100 disaster kits and emergency supply products offered for sale. Additionally, carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers have been added to the site to complete the product offerings and creating a one stop shopping site for all emergency, disaster and survival products.

The disaster guide contains information on what to do in case of numerous natural disasters including earthquakes, fire, hurricane, floods, tornadoes, thunderstorms and winter storms. Included in the guide are tips and suggestions for making your living or work environment more safe; establishing an emergency plan and making sure survival supplies are available.

The guide involving terrorist attacks is an overview of what types of potential attacks could occur and how to handle each specific situation. The site will contain sections on dealing with biological, chemical, explosive, nuclear and radioactive attacks.

"The importance of preparation cannot be overlooked in the current atmosphere facing America. Communication, shelter, evacuation, survival supplies and the availability of emergency services may all be compromised during either a natural or man made disaster. Survivability and reduction of injuries will be significantly enhanced for those individuals and organizations that have taken the time to establish procedures and prepare for such calamities," commented Colonel Jeffrey A. Powers (USMC retired) Founder of HSTJ. "It is impossible to predict what exactly will happen and precisely where. But it is very clear in the minds of most experts that the U.S. is at risk for more terrorist attacks. Preparing for the worst case scenario is clearly a prudent course of action. On the natural disaster front, Hurricane Jeanne has been responsible for over 700 deaths in Haiti and some reports have indicated the Southeast U.S. may be soon be in her path," concluded Colonel Powers.

Carbon Monoxide Threat

Carbon monoxide, or CO, is a colorless, odorless, toxic gas. It is produced by the incomplete combustion of solid, liquid and gaseous fuels. Appliances fueled with gas, oil, kerosene, or wood may produce CO. If such appliances are not installed, maintained, and used properly, CO may accumulate to dangerous and even deadly levels in cars, homes, or poorly ventilated areas. Common sources of CO include the following wood or gas fueled appliances: Room heaters, Furnaces, Charcoal grills, Cooking ranges, Water heaters, Automobiles run in closed garages, Fireplaces, Portable generators and Wood burning stoves.

The threat of Carbon Monoxide poisoning has been in the press recently, as state and local governments such as New York, have mandated CO detectors to be installed in new residences and businesses. The CO threat is significantly increased during a disaster situation from plugged ventilation and broken gas lines and appliances. Statistics have shown that in recent years over 2,000 unintentional carbon dioxide poisoning deaths and over 10,000 injuries happen annually in the U.S. Fires in the home and in vehicles annually account for over 3,700 deaths and 19,000 injuries.

"With this ever present threat clearly looming; homes, businesses, hotels, cabins, schools and cars, boats, campers and recreation vehicles should have both carbon monoxide detectors in use and fire extinguishers readily available. Adding CO detection equipment and proper fire extinguishers to our product line makes perfect sense to complete our offerings and create a comprehensive 'one-stop-shopping' site for all essential products. www.DisasterAndEmergencyKits.com is in the final phases of development and we look forward to the formal unveiling on Monday, September 27th, 2004," added Colonel Powers.
