New Order for Harsco's SGB Scaffolding Establishes Market Presence in Massive Sakhalin Island Development Project

HARRISBURG, Pa., Sept. 23, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Worldwide industrial services and products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its SGB access services division has received a scaffolding order from a partnership including international construction leader Bechtel Corporation that establishes SGB's initial presence in the massive Sakhalin Island development project north of Japan, one of the largest integrated oil and gas projects in the world. The order is valued at approximately $1 million.

SGB will supply its proprietary Cuplok as well as conventional scaffolding systems for use on a major new onshore processing facility being built by Bechtel and several partners that will provide Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to the growing economies of Asia. At full capacity, the facility is expected to process up to 1.8 million cubic feet of gas per day.

Announcing the order, John Barrett, SGB'S Group Operations Director commented, "We are particularly pleased to be working with Bechtel and its partners on a project of this scale. We are optimistic that we will receive further orders for additional scaffolding and access requirements on Sakhalin Island as the facility expands."

The SGB-developed Cuplok system is a versatile, fast-erect scaffold designed for a broad range of access requirements. The equipment is independently manufactured to SGB's specifications and made available to customers on either a sale or rental basis.

Harsco's access services divisions, SGB and Patent Construction Systems, comprise one of the world's largest and most complete providers of scaffolding, shoring, forming and other access solutions for major non-residential construction and industrial maintenance projects.
