"Preserve Your Capital"

You know, it just irks us to read some "analysts" crow about how they "predicted" this or "warned investors" about that. Today, while the markets dropped (again), we were just happy that at least YOU, got the "straight dope" on the markets from us -- weeks ago. You know that we've been BEARISH for weeks. You know we've been telling you to UP your stop/losses and look to preserve capital.

We continue to hope you're doing just that: Preserving capital.

Which brings us to the topic of an email we recently received. One of our members asked, "I see the daily picks but how do I know which ones to buy? From what I've observed thus far, the majority have gone down."

That's a great question, and an interesting point. First, let me explain a bit about what our "strong buys" and "strong sells" represent, and what the do not represent:

Our "strong buys" are stocks we believe show more potential for upside, than downside. The opposite is true for "strong sells". Of course, we cannot guarantee that any stock will go up or down, but this is our best estimate. The timeframe for these "strong buy" or "strong sell" ratings is from today, until the ratings change. The reason for this is that a stock's rating may change tomorrow, or it may change a week from now, or it may change a month from now.

So, (and this is an IMPORTANT point), when we issue a "Strong Buy" or "Strong Sell" on a stock, it is NOT a "daytrade" stock. Those ratings are meant to be the basis of entry or exit strategies -- timeframe will vary on a stock-by-stock basis.

The point made above by our member that, "...the majority have gone down..." is one that I can't really answer. Why? Because I don't know the timeframe the member is referring to. However, check this out from today's "Strong Buy" and "Strong Sell" lists:

Today, we picked 7 "Strong Buy" stocks and 33 "Strong Sell" stocks. Of the "Strong Buy" stocks, it is true that more closed down than up -- today. But, what is more important is that the average move down of the "Strong Sell" stocks from Monday morning was 1.9% from the open to the close. That means that our "Strong Sells" could have saved traders (on average) today, 1.9%.

And, that's important. We know what "mainstream wall street" won't tell you: Stocks go DOWN, just like they go up. You, hopefully, will see our ratings as a way to find some clarity in your search for what to do next with a stock you hold, or are thinking about buying.
