Two Cribs in the Corner: A Disturbing New Novel about Obsession

CLEMENTON, N.J., Sept. 28, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Nurse Allie is sick, and she has a dirty little secret. She stole a baby from the hospital and raised the child as her own. Allie originally had a different plan. She propositioned a young mother to give up her child, but the baby was dead at birth. In desperation, Allie snatched another baby from the nursery. She did not know that the baby was one of twins. And that someone had seen her commit the crime.

This well-paced thriller with its many twists and turns grips the reader from the start until the end as the main character descends to even greater madness. Stealing the baby was just the beginning. Determined to keep her secret, Allie commits one crime and then another. When someone threatens to unravel her secret and the fantasy world she plans to create, Allie commits murder. She raises the child as her own and becomes obsessed with the little boy she stole. The child grows up being possessed and abused by the person he calls mother.

Two Cribs in the Corner is a disturbing tale of a psychotic and how she ruthlessly shatters a young child. The mad ramblings and actions will puzzle and surprise the reader, but the novel also demonstrates how family values can never be overwritten about.

About the Author

"No Time To Die, I Have a Book to Write," these words kept this African-American author going. Seventy years old and afflicted with cancer, Helen Hicks had all the reasons to give up on life. When she was rewriting her new novel, she was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatments for her Stage 3 B cancer and had to stay on oxygen for twenty-four hours a day.
