Virco Donates Library Furniture to Tennessee Elementary School

TORRANCE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- As a follow-up to its recently announced 10-year service agreement with the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP), Virco Inc. (AMEX:VIR) has donated premium library furniture valued at $7,500 -- including products from Virco's award-winning, ergonomically supportive I.Q.(R) and Ph.D.(R) furniture lines, as well as a selection of sturdy 4000 Series tables -- to Percy Priest Elementary School in Nashville, Tennessee.

This donation to Percy Priest Elementary stems from Virco's agreement to provide $1.5 million to continue the National Principals Resource Center's Speakers Bureau, which grants funds to NAESP state affiliates to pay for keynote speakers for their annual meetings. Virco's generous commitment was announced in April at NAESP's annual convention in conjunction with a furniture giveaway drawing won by Percy Priest Elementary. Moreover, Virco plans to sponsor subsequent furniture giveaway drawings at upcoming NAESP annual conventions.

"We're very impressed with Virco's donation to our school library, and with the company's generosity to NAESP," said Teresa Dennis, Principal of Percy Priest Elementary. "Without Virco's support, state associations would be unable to have quality speakers at their conventions."

A dedication ceremony for the newly furnished school library was held on Tuesday, August 31. In addition to Principal Teresa Dennis, the event was attended by Dr. Pedro E. Garcia, Director of Schools for the Metropolitan Nashville District, Chris Henson, the district's Assistant Superintendent for Business and Facilities Services, and a number of parents who serve as officers for the school's Parent Teacher Organization Board. Virco was represented by Sales Representative Lisa Kirkus, Regional Manager Todd Manning and by National Sales Group Director Brian True, who read stories to a group of younger Percy Priest students during the festivities.

Established in 1921, the National Association of Elementary School Principals serves 29,500 K-8 principals in the United States, Canada, and overseas. See www.naesp.org for details.

After opening for business in 1950 with just one customer, Virco has grown to become the country's leading furniture manufacturer for the K-12 market. Virco products include the I.Q. Series, which received a Best of NeoCon(R) 2002 Gold Award; the all-new, ergonomically contoured Zuma collection, honored with a prestigious Best of NeoCon(R) 2004 Editors' Choice Award; and stylish, supportive Ph.D.(R) Series task chairs. In addition, Virco's industry-leading resource recovery and recycling achievements have been repeatedly recognized by local, state and national organizations. The company's most recent honor was announced in 2003, when the United States Environmental Protection Agency designated Virco as a charter member of its WasteWise Hall of Fame.
