From Pain to Pleasure -- New Book Brims with Poems that Illustrate the Wonder of Living

BOWIE, Md., Sept. 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Variety spices up life, and everyone has the potential to make their days more flavorful. Kristin Beckman's I've Got Writer's Block (now available through AuthorHouse) offers a rich collection of verse that inspires readers to savor the wide array experiences awaiting them.

I've Got Writer's Block grabs one's attention immediately with the first poem, "Dying," a blunt, powerful piece that pierces the heart of the human condition. From there, I've Got Writer's Block unleashes a torrent of Beckman's colorful, passionate points of view on a myriad of subjects. Just like life, the poems address euphoric highs and abysmal lows in a constant shift of peaks and valleys. They also reflect shifting moods, from overflowing gratitude to seething hatred to calm reflection. Throughout the book, Beckman seeks not only to connect with her audience but to challenge them to gain a greater respect for the human spirit that directs their flesh and bones.

"Fading," illustrates the serene tone expressed in poems strategically placed between more aggressive pieces:

I fade, fade away in the distance/ You come, you try to catch me/ I disappear to the other side/ It's beautiful/ There's fresh air/ I can breathe/ There's no disease/ Life here is brilliant, to some degree/ You should come and see/ Only if you were like me/ Able to fade away/ But you're not/ Start to help out/ And soon you'll be/ I'll fade back in and wait for you/ I'll wait until your time comes/ I'll help you see, it's your time/ Come with me/ As we fade away/ The earth begins to grow beautiful as it used to be.

A call for readers to embrace all the pleasure and pain that life has to offer, I've Got Writer's Block opens a flood gate of pure, honest feeling for all to enjoy.

Beckman was born in Brooklyn in 1975. She has been writing poetry since she was 11 years old and has received numerous awards for her work. Two of her poems were published while she was still in high school. In addition to the thrill writing provides, Beckman also satisfies her adventurous streak with fast cars and motorcycles. I've Got Writer's Block is her first book.
