The Interpol Imbroglio -- Terrorism, Intrigue Mix to Form Potent Political Concoction in New Novel

ARLINGTON, Va., Sept. 29, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- A deadly biochemical weapon threatens an international convention of law enforcement officers in the new suspense novel, The Interpol Imbroglio (now available through AuthorHouse), by Mary Jo Grotenrath.

The trail of intrigue begins in Vienna, Austria, where the General Assembly of Interpol is holding its annual conference. When delegates start dropping dead, it is discovered that someone unleashed an anthrax-related biochemical cocktail. As the law enforcement community tries to quell the rising fear, it becomes apparent that American Secretary General-designate Mike Merriman was the intended target. However, the law professor and Army reservist manages to survive with the help of previous anti-anthrax inoculations and Col. Habib bin Ahmad of the Iraqi police.

Vienna police track the culprits via the Internet to a Canadian graduate student in Atlanta and an Interpol staff officer as Habib falls for the beautiful German agent Ingrid Immergut. After he narrowly escapes a bomb blast in his hotel, Habib, with the help of Ingrid, hides out in a monastery on the Rhine River. Meanwhile, Iraqi president Saddam Hussein, in the hopes of gaining points in global politics, invites Interpol agents to interview a suspect that has fled to his country.

When American bombs fall on Baghdad, Habib must decide whether to defect or return home. Fear and intrigue run rampant through The Interpol Imbroglio, an international thriller that explores political boundaries and patriotism.
