Trelleborg makes complementary pipe seals acquisition in Norway


STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Oct. 05, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Through its Building Systems business area, the Trelleborg Group has signed an agreement to acquire the operations of the Norwegian company Batek, which specializes in the aftermarket for pipe seals.

The acquisition complements Trelleborg Building Systems operations in its Pipe Seals segment and provides access to the expanding aftermarket in the Nordic region. Batek has annual sales of approximately SEK 10 M. The formal takeover of the business will become effective on October 1, 2004.

Trelleborg Building Systems develops and markets polymer- and bitumen-based building products for sealing and waterproofing applications in industrial and consumer markets. The business area is a market leader within sealing profiles in the European market. Trelleborg Building Systems has annual sales of approximately SEK 2.3 billion, about 1,400 employees, and production units in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Poland, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom.
