Learn the Art of Good Decision Making -- New Book Says You Have to Take It With a Grain of Salt

WINDSOR, Calif., Oct. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Learning how to make good decisions is easy; all it takes is practice. But learning how to make your own decisions routinely is hard; it requires you to form a new habit. In the powerful new book, A Grain of Salt, author Daniel Romm steers you to the road to wisdom, or the ability to make good decisions.

To help you break your old habit, the book will challenge "obvious truths" in various disciplines as discussed in the first part. This discussion is primarily intended to illustrate why you must never merely accept arguments, even from purported experts, at face value. You need to take them with a grain of salt and do your own independent analysis to make good decisions, which always require accurate facts and reliable theories. The second part describes a useful and straightforward twelve-step process for arriving at the best decision possible in any given set of circumstances.

A Grain of Salt-intelligent, relevant and incisive, may just be your fortress against the iniquitous widespread presence of the profit-motive, the human tendency towards presumptuousness, and the danger of accepting the words of authority figures without consulting your own judgment. "The decisions you make have a great impact on the quality of your life. Though a lifetime of good decisions does not guarantee happiness, a lifetime of bad ones is sure to lead to misery. Good decisions depend on accurate facts and reliable theories, hence the need to make your own independent analysis," says Romm.
