Old Dead Seagull Cranberry Jam -- New Book Reveals Secrets of a Life Well Lived

CHESAPEAKE BAY, Md., and FRENCHMAN'S BAY, Maine, Oct. 5, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- This is life as it should be, not without the risks and challenges of the rhythms of birth to death, but a celebration of the small comforts and simple pleasures of a life well lived. From the ragged coast of Downeast Maine to a quiet island in Chesapeake Bay, from the tiny town of Talkeetna at Mt. McKinley's base to a packed classroom in the depths of the Mekong Delta, Elizabeth Gamble invites us into her world. You will find that you don't want to leave. In her new book, Old Dead Seagull Cranberry Jam, old-fashioned pleasures abound, and our fast-paced lives are wrapped in the warmth of freshly baked bread and the sweet taste of wild blueberry jam. Here is a recipe for balancing tension with simplicity and sinking into the joys of everyday life. In tales filled with compassion and humor, a way of life we have all but forgotten emerges as a guidepost for today's hectic pace. Peopled with characters who make fiction pale in comparison and complete with easy gourmet recipes for everything from Seaglass Lobster Chowder to Lady Baltimore Cake, Dead Seagull is a delicious temptation. You will read it again and again for the sheer comfort of it, so make some tea while the pound cake is baking and dig in. It promises great satisfaction for both mind and soul.

About the Author

A member of the BladerBabes, not to be confused with that other group with two d's, Elizabeth Gamble hasn't gone splat on the pavement in several years, knock on wood. She lives with her lovey (her husband of thirty years), a very sweet but not-too-bright black lab, and an upstart coon hound on a small island near the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland. Every summer they escape to a tiny coastal village in Maine with their son and three daughters.
