New Strategic Agreement between Vianeta and Syntel Adds Global Reach to Vianeta's Marketing and Sales Efforts, XML-based e-HIM Solution Suite to Syntel's Health IT Menu

TROY, Mich. and MILPITAS, Calif., Oct. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Syntel Inc. (NASDAQ:SYNT) today announced a new strategic marketing and product development agreement with Vianeta Communications that will add XML-based e-HIM (health information management) solutions to Syntel's diverse information technology (IT) solution portfolio, as well as expand Vianeta's marketing reach in the U.S. and around the world.

Michigan-based Syntel is a leading global provider of custom outsourcing solutions in a broad spectrum of IT and IT-enabled services, with more than 4,200 employees in 26 offices worldwide. California-based Vianeta is known for its pioneering use of XML in healthcare to create immediate interoperability between health IT systems. Hundreds of hospitals and clinics throughout North America use the Vianeta Harmony e-HIM solution suite -- the only native XML (eXtensible Markup Language) health IT solution on the market -- to eliminate paper-driven inefficiencies, reduce cost, improve revenue cycles, prevent errors, improve quality, ensure patient privacy and build a solid foundation for a true electronic medical record.

In addition to giving Syntel the option to resell Vianeta Harmony to Syntel customers, "Vianeta is also working with Syntel to develop and market an integrated 'value-added' e-HIM solution and services suite designed to provide healthcare organizations with high-quality products and services, accelerated software application development, maintenance and support at lower risk and cost to the customer," explained Vianeta COO Ralph Aceves. "Partnering with Syntel enables Vianeta to leverage their global presence, as well as further enhance the ability of both our organizations to service customers."

Added Andy Sivanaraman, Syntel's vice president, strategic programs & alliances: "Our customers need to derive business results quickly from our services. Partnering with a respected health IT firm like Vianeta enables us to offer our customers an affordable, advanced and proven e-HIM solution that's helping hospitals and medical groups improve patient care while reducing cost, achievements that affect us all as both patients and taxpayers."
