Kids Feed Their Piggys

LA HABRA, Calif., Oct. 7, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- South Western Federal Credit Union's youngest members answered the call to "Feed Your Piggy" during a summer deposit promotion, bringing in more than $51,000 in two months.

Some 900 members of the credit union's Looney Tunes(r) Saving Club received a personalized brochure, brightly illustrated with piggy banks, encouraging them to "Feed Your Piggy and Win." For each deposit during the promotion period, saving club members received an entry in a drawing for Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm tickets, or a Toys 'R' Us gift certificate.

"We were thrilled by the overwhelming response from our youngest members," said Laura Poore, president/CEO. "But I can't say it was a surprise. The Looney Tunes Savings Club has been a popular way for our children to learn the value of saving."

We also wanted to keep the emphasis on learning, so every child was encouraged to read with a $10 deposit to their Looney Tunes account by "Feeding their brain, too." They did this by providing the names of three books they had read during the summer, and the name of their all-time favorite book. The credit union has deposited nearly $2,000 into the accounts of club members who turned in the names of books they read.

The self-mailing brochure, created by Aubrey & Associates of Anaheim, CA, used digital-on-demand technology to imprint each piece with the recipient's name in several places.

"We knew that seeing their name prominently featured on the brochure asking 'Is your piggy hungry?' would really get a child's attention," said Clayton Lloyd, Aubrey creative director. "The great success of this promotion shows that digital-on-demand printing is perfect for small groups and customized mailings."
