Northrop Grumman Showcases Comprehensive Suite of Geospatial Intelligence Solutions at GEOINT 2004

NEW ORLEANS, Oct. 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) will highlight its support to national security and homeland defense this week at the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation's GEOINT 2004 Symposium.

The exposition will be held Oct. 12-14 at the Sheraton New Orleans. Northrop Grumman will be located at booth number 301.

Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its interoperable, secure, wireless geospatial solutions for homeland security. The company's wireless geospatial applications enable geographic data about potential threats and vulnerabilities to be seamlessly shared between multiple government agencies and first responders.

Northrop Grumman's expertise within the intelligence community will also be demonstrated through an enterprise architecture solution that provides a standard way to do business using the same type of software and systems. The exhibit will showcase the company's best practices for developing integrated solutions that leverage geospatial standards, specifications, architectures and services into a single, interoperable enterprise architecture.

In addition, Northrop Grumman will demonstrate Touch Table, a projection display set on a seven-foot diagonal table. The projection tabletop display facilitates viewing and manipulation of complex data, such as geographic information, that cannot readily be represented on a standard computer display. Touch Table senses the location of points that are touched to manipulate information in real time.

As a leading developer and supplier of space-based intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems for military and government agencies, Northrop Grumman will exhibit its Space Based Radar system, which performs three global, all-weather day/night missions; its Synthetic Aperture Radar for imagery; Surface Moving Target Indication for detecting and tracking moving objects; and High Resolution Terrain Information. As part of the nation's missile defense program, Northrop Grumman is developing the Space Tracking and Surveillance System that uses onboard infrared sensors to detect, track and discriminate ballistic missiles throughout their trajectories.

Also, Northrop Grumman will demonstrate its real-time Surveillance and Reconnaissance Test bed that evaluates future sensing, processing and visualization technologies. The system collects, interprets and displays spatial information from various sensors and systems, creating solutions for complex command, control, communication, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR), and homeland defense challenges.

Northrop Grumman will also illustrate its unmanned air intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance initiatives with the Global Hawk, a U.S. Air Force system that provides constant, wide-area reconnaissance and surveillance data for multiple users with multi-discipline requirements, and at several layers of command. The advanced information architecture currently deployed on Global Hawk allows imagery and other mission-critical data to be rapidly disseminated in theater among battle managers, ground troops and other tactical users.

Visit the Northrop Grumman exhibit at booth 301 for more information on the company's breadth of geospatial solutions used by the intelligence community and homeland security agencies, the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency and Department of Defense.

K. Stuart Shea, vice president of Space and Intelligence for Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector, will give opening remarks to kick-off the symposium on Wednesday at 8 a.m. in the fifth floor Grand Ballroom. Shea is also chairman of the U.S. Geospatial Intelligence Foundation.

Richard L. Haver, vice president of Intelligent Strategy for Northrop Grumman's Mission Systems sector, will moderate a panel discussion on "Geospatial Intelligence: Horizontal Integration from Tooth to Tail," on Wednesday at 1:45 p.m. in the fifth floor Grand Ballroom.
