RIDGEFIELD, Conn., Oct. 14, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Global Matrechs, Inc. (OTCBB:GMTH) (http://www.globalmatrechs.com), a licensed technologies business with emerging technologies for nuclear energy storage and containment, Homeland Security, environmental and chemical industries, is pleased to announce that the company will be presenting its plan to go forward in the Homeland Security Sector at the Homeland Security Online Investor Conference on 20th October.

Global Matrechs expects to outline and discuss its EKOR(tm) technology, a silicon-based geocomposite radiation resistant coating/foam used to contain radioactive materials. (Unaffected by Alpha-radiation; gamma- and beta-radiation up to an absorbed dose of 10 gigarads). EKOR(tm) can be provided in a variety of forms (fixative, foam, sealer or grout) to encapsulate and contain radioactive contamination. Other characteristics include fire resistance (can withstand mechanical and Hot-cut transient temperature spikes up to 1100 degrees F); corrosion resistant (to strong Base and acid solutions); easily applied to horizontal, vertical, or overhead surfaces, and can polymerize underwater; can form a smooth and wear-resistant surface for ease of decontamination; mixes with waste, which is up to 50% water by weight; adheres to unclean, wet or corroded surfaces and hot metal surfaces up to 120 degrees centigrade; effective up to a 1:6 EKOR-to-radioactive-waste matrix; penetrates openings as small as 1.0 mm; uses minimal equipment in an easy application; and is non-toxic and inert environmentally; plus the spent product is not a hazardous waste. EKOR(tm) formulations provide flexibility to assist in the containment of different levels of radioactivity in different physical situations including stabilization, containment, transportation, encapsulation, final storage and disposal. Its investors will see that Global Matrechs' participation in this sector will only be one of many positive steps for the Company. Based on research from Homeland Security Research Corp. Global Matrechs, Inc. sees the Homeland Security sector growing into a 170 billion dollar industry. EKOR(tm) can contain nuclear waste for at least one hundred years and help mitigate possible accidents from the transportation of these deadly chemicals. With nuclear waste being encapsulated with EKOR(tm) the clean-up is a much more reliable and less dangerous process as the waste being encapsulated in EKOR(tm) would not be dispersed and would remain in larger pieces if damaged due to an accident.
