Human Resources Outsourcing Association Completes Inaugural Certified Professional Outsourcing Course

'Using Outsourcing as a Human Resources Strategy,' Attended by Nine Leading Companies

NASHUA, N.H., Oct. 18, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- The Human Resources Outsourcing Association(R) ("HROA(R)"), a non-profit association dedicated to education, advocacy and promoting professionalism in, and the best practices of, human resources outsourcing ("HRO"), today announces that it has completed the inaugural Certified Professional Outsourcing ("CPO") course, "Using Outsourcing as a Human Resources Strategy."

"Using Outsourcing as a Human Resources Strategy" debuted in Chicago, IL, October 11-12, 2004. This comprehensive overview is an opportunity for the HR end-user, practitioner, provider and consultant, to learn the variety of skills necessary to make the "build or buy" decision when considering outsourcing as an appropriate alternative. Outsourcing, as an option, needs to be an essential part of every HR professional's skill set. This course included the following topics: strategic implications, project management, consulting, picking the providers, the RFP, Legal Considerations & Contracts, Communication, Metrics, the Provider Relationship, Governance and Managing Change.

"The comprehensiveness of the CPO certification program, which will become the training standard for this growing industry, demonstrates HROA's understanding of the complexities of HRO," said course attendee Leslie Johnson, Chief Service Officer and Senior Vice President, Savista Corporation. Pamela Berklich, Vice President, Resource Consulting Group, who also attended the course said, "This class is essential for those who need to understand every aspect of the HR Outsourcing decision, from both the buyer and the provider perspective."

Course attendee Erin Peterson, Resourcing Director, Accenture HR Services said, "The content was very comprehensive but the best part of the CPO course was gaining examples and practical experiences from colleagues in other HRO companies!" And Harry Feinberg, Chairman and CEO of Outsourcing Today concluded, "The foundational components of the course are important; however equally as important, even an HRO industry veteran such as myself was able to top-grade my HRO knowledge and have a number of key takeaways from the course."

A number of course attendees have already registered for their second CPO course, "Legal Aspects of Human Resources Outsourcing," being held in Los Angeles and New York City. "Education, and elevating the HR profession by enabling individuals to attain the HRO industry's first, and only, professional designation (CPO) is squarely inline with HROA's overall mission," said Michael Beygelman, Executive Director of the HROA.

Registration for Washington DC, Los Angeles and New York City is available online, and onsite on the day of the course. Individuals and organizations interested in attending future courses this Fall are encouraged to visit the HROA website at http://www.hroassociation.org/ for additional information about the CPO curriculum and HROA membership.
