Emulex Host Bus Adapters Certified for ADIC Tape Libraries and Storage Management Solutions

End Users Can Now Incorporate ADIC Products into a Storage Area Network Using Emulex's High Performance Connectivity

COSTA MESA, Calif., Oct. 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the world leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters (HBAs) and embedded storage switches, announced today that Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC) has certified multiple Emulex HBAs, including the LP10000 family, for use with ADIC tape libraries and disk backup solutions. By virtue of the certifications, customers can utilize Emulex HBAs to connect ADIC solutions to a storage area network (SAN) and benefit from the combined interoperability of the product lines.

The Emulex LightPulse LP10000DC dual channel HBA for use in Windows and Solaris environments is certified for use with ADIC's Scalar 24, 100, 1000, 10K, and i2000 tape libraries and Pathlight VX integrated disk-to-tape backup solution. Previous certification of Emulex's LightPulse HBAs include the LP1050, LP9802 and the LP982 for use with ADIC's Scalar 24, 100, 1000, 10K and i2000 tape library solutions in Windows and Linux environments.

"Emulex's goal is to provide the flexible building blocks and connectivity solutions for all types of networked storage systems," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing, Emulex Corp. "Certification of Emulex HBAs for use with ADIC libraries and disk backup solutions helps ensure customers will experience seamless deployment of SANs, and ultimately benefit from the performance and flexibility of networked storage."

"Certifying interoperability for ADIC backup solutions with host bus adapters from Emulex is part of our on-going commitment to help our customers more effectively manage and protect their business-critical data," said Scott Roza, vice president of sales and marketing at ADIC. "We are pleased to announce the new certifications and are confident that our joint efforts are making it easier for our customers to implement the storage strategies needed to keep up with the continued growth of their key digital assets."

The Emulex family of Fibre Channel HBAs offers a firmware-based architecture and operating system driver compatibility across product generations, which provides customers with a simplified upgrade path and reduced management complexities while ensuring a lower total cost of ownership.

The ADIC Scalar library family features include integrated SAN support, intelligent monitoring and alerting functions, capacity-on-demand scalability, and options for full redundant robotics and controllers for high availability operations. ADIC's Pathlight VX integrated disk-to-tape backup solution enhances backup and restore processes with the benefits of disk, while retaining the long-term data protection capabilities of tape.
