SODERTALJE, Sweden, Oct. 21, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- "The changeover to the new product range has so far functioned perfectly. Together with our suppliers we have strived to identify and prevent disruptions well ahead of series production, and this has been immensely successful. By transferring production of the 4-series to our factories in South America, we have in addition been able to maintain excellent delivery capacity."
These are the words of Per Hallberg, Head of Production and Procurement at Scania, as he summarises the production situation six months after market introduction of the new range.
It was in April that Scania started the changeover from the 4-series to the new P-, R- and T-series within the company's European production organisation.
"Today both our component workshops and our assembly units have passed the most difficult part of the changeover. At the factory in Oskarshamn, for instance, which supplies the European production organisation with cabs, the new product range now constitutes about 70 percent of production," says Per Hallberg.
