Bayfield Ventures Corp.: Exploration Program Begins In Mongolia On 2 Bayfield Properties, East And West Of Ivanhoe Mines Oyu Tolgoi

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 25, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Bayfield Ventures Corp. (TSX Venture Exchange:BYV) announces that it has contracted a geological consulting company to implement a two phase mineral exploration and geological survey of its 100% owned Hanbogd-2 and Navtgar Uul Licensed Fields that are located in the south central area of the Galba Gobi region of Mongolia. Mine-Info Mineral Consulting of UlaanBaatar, Mongolia, will commence immediately with an exploration program that will consist of an initial reconnaissance survey and will involve the compilation and assessing data of earlier established mineralization points, geochemical and geophysical anomalies. This initial stage of exploration will allow for the identifying of mineralized features in selected areas of the mineral licenses. Localized geological surveys will then be conducted on the areas, differentiated as geologically attractive in terms of the mineral features exhibited. This will consist of detailed mapping, in-depth sampling (rock and geochem) and assaying, and prospecting. A program of establishment of grids, geochemistry (soils and stream sediment), and geophysical surveys will then follow.

The licensed area of the Hanbogd-2 (No. 6860) is located in the eastern part of the Hanbogd Mountains, and the central part of Galba Gobi. The Licensed area of the Navtgar Uul (No. 6861) is situated in the territory of Nomgon and Bayan Ovoo. Both properties are in the Gobi region approximately 650 km south of the capital UlaanBaatar, Mongolia. Bayfield holds licenses to approximately 300,000 hectares (750,000 acres) in the South Gobi region. The Hanbogd-2 license is geologically situated about 60 km to the east of Ivanhoe Mine's Oyu Tolgoi /Turquoise Hill base metal and gold discovery in the South Gobi Region of Mongolia. This license is adjacent to Ivanhoe land holdings to the north. The Navtgar Uul license is located about 100 km to the west of Ivanhoe's Oyu Tolgoi discovery. Ivanhoe held land is adjacent to this property to the north and east.
