HERNDON, Va., Oct. 28, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been awarded an aviation maintenance-training contract by Sikorsky Support Services, Inc., Stratford, Conn. to provide maintenance training to U.S. armed forces.
Five companies will compete for task orders under the indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity U.S. Army Aviation Joint Administrative Management Support Services contract. Northrop Grumman's Information Technology (IT) sector, as a subcontractor to Sikorsky Support Services, has the potential to win approximately $80 million in task orders over 10 years.
As part of the contract, Northrop Grumman has the potential to provide aviation maintenance training for multiple helicopter airframes. This training includes front-end analysis, design, and multimedia production and products.
"Northrop Grumman's experience with aviation maintenance training for the Army, including our support to the Training and Doctrine Command, provides our troops with the essential technical training and education they need to better maintain helicopters in the field," said Kent Schneider, president of Northrop Grumman IT's Defense Enterprise Solutions business unit.
Work on the contract could be performed at several U.S. Army sites, and Army Reserve and National Guard organizations.
