Photo Release -- Northrop Grumman Promotes Jennifer R. Boykin to Sector Vice President of Process Excellence


NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Nov. 1, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has appointed Jennifer R. Boykin as vice president of process excellence for its Newport News sector. She reports to C. Michael Petters, corporate vice president and president of the Newport News sector.

In this new position, Boykin, 40, has responsibility for strengthening sector-wide performance in all aspects of shipbuilding by driving continuous improvements and standardizations in all areas. She will develop and implement a more comprehensive and focused approach to continuous improvement, identify and reduce waste, and improve the efficiency of cross-functional processes.

"Jennifer brings a diverse skill set and strong level of discipline to this new position," said Petters. "Process improvement is critical to successful contract execution and our ability to bring efficiencies to bear, drive down cost and engage all our employees in this effort is a major focus for us now and in the future."

Prior to this promotion, Boykin served as director of facilities and waterfront support with responsibility for facilities engineering, construction and the maintenance of company buildings, equipment and service throughout the 550-acre Newport News facility. She joined the company in 1987 in the nuclear engineering department and has held progressively responsible positions, including senior nuclear engineer, program manager for the nuclear engineering division, and construction superintendent for the aircraft carrier program during construction of the USS John C. Stennis and USS Harry S. Truman.

A native of St. Louis, Boykin earned a bachelor's degree in marine engineering from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and a masters degree in engineering management from The George Washington University. She is also a graduate of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce leadership program and was recognized as an Outstanding Woman of the Peninsula by Girls, Inc., of the Greater Peninsula.
