You see us discuss "Stochastics" nightly. So, this evening, we want you to see it in action. We will look at a recent pick, Ryanair (Nasdaq:RYAAY).

First, a quick primer in what Stochastics does. Stochastics is an "oscillating" indicator (oscillating means "up and down") which measures a stock's closing price versus it's highs and lows over a given period of time. The number produced with Stochastics will be between 0 and 100.

The theory behind Stochastics is that as a stock price nears a "top", the Stochastics number will move closer to 100. As a stock price nears a "bottom", the Stochastics number produced will be closer to 0.

Finally, a moving average of the Stochastics number is used to define a crossover points - where the Stochastics number crosses up or down over the moving average. When the Stochastics number (usually referred to as the "fast" line") crosses above the moving average (usually referred to as the "slow" line), the theory is that the stock price is close to moving up. The opposite is true, as well - when the "fast" line crosses below the "slow" line, the stock price is expected to drop.

Now, there are some other techniques to employ with Stochastics. This, however, is a good way to get started. To find the Stochastics number for any stock, use your StockPickReport Trend-Finding Software (the link is in your members only site). Enter a stock symbol in the top right "Enter Symbol" box. Then, choose "Chart Plus" in the left column. Once the chart appears in the top frame, choose "options", "indicators", and then "Stochastics".

See you over the weekend with Monday's report.
