Monday, November 8, 2004 StockPickReport Commentary
The S&P 500 is now, OFFICIALLY, up for the year. Talk about a turnaround. A couple weeks ago the S&P couldn't get out it's own way quick enough on its way to potential year lows.
It is clear that the S&P is at the "top of the range". We believe that there could easily be a pullback to the MIDDLE of the range, but we do not see, at this point, an indication that a more serious downturn lies ahead.
In short, we like the market right now but we are expecting a pullback before a continuation of a positive move.
In other news, Oil prices are "on the decline". This is wonderful news for MOST stocks, but not for energy stocks like IVAN or HEC. In the case of both IVAN and HEC, technical indicators like Stochastics and RSI point to a move higher. But, I'll tell you what, with all the surprises ahead regarding the war in Iraq, we're not sure that the move up will be sooner OR later.
