Life and Its Myriad Surprises - A Fictionalized Biography about an Adopted Child and His Journey to a Resolution

OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Life is a rollercoaster ride. In this new novel, a 38-year-old man suddenly meets his biological mother and only then learns that he was adopted. Joe Watson's fictionalized biography Raincrow spans nine decades and tells of the past, present, and the future. It is full of humor and the highs and lows of life. It is a vivid portrait of characters, their foibles and trials. But most of all, it is the story of a man named Thomas Raincrow.

Set in the Midwest, the story takes us from an orphanage in Firestone, Illinois, to the river town of Flatwater, Nebraska, telling the life of Thomas Raincrow along with Harley, Eve, Angeline, and Big Hat. As Thomas learns the circumstances of his birth, he embarks on an inner journey towards a resolution. In his story we find hope in the midst of depression, faith in this confusing world, and love as the only true reward.

Raincrow is Joe Watson's first novel but he has caught the attention of critics in the Midwest for his poetry and music. The Metropolitan wrote, "Watson's gritty, ethereal poetry shines out from his Midwestern home." The Midwestern Review described his music album Fencepost as "bluesy, spiritual, American music with wide ranging themes."
