In Uncharted Territory?

Well, it's finally over. The market is officially not in a bear market. At least that's what the S&P 500 tells us.

The S&P 500 is at a three-year high. Friday's close at 1184 was higher than any close since August of 2001. This is an impressive fact. So impressive that we will say it again: The S&P 500 is at the highest point in three years.

This is uncharted territory. When was the last time we could make that claim? It's been a while.

With all the talk of "doom and gloom" around the world, the market somehow managed an impressive rally from the bottom in 2002.

Friday, we told you we thought the markets would close up for the day. In fact, we were pretty bold about it. But, it just FELT right, didn't it?

Are we out of the woods yet? Gee whiz, that's the million-dollar question. And, one we are not prepared to answer. There is no downside support for the S&P at this point that we feel comfortable saying would be a place for stocks to pull back to in a downturn.

In short, "it's a long way down" in a correction - if there is one. So, for the moment, we are A) Happy, B) Hopeful, and C) Careful. "Happy" that the markets are UP, "hopeful" for more upside, and "careful" with our stop/losses.

There's a funny thing about "uncharted territory": it's only uncharted until someone charts it. All of us are "charting" our course through the next phase of the market's growth. For More Commentary Go Here:
