Emulex Next Generation PCI Express HBAs Qualified for Use with EMC Symmetrix and EMC CLARiiON Networked Storage Solutions

Emulex LP10000ExDc and LP1050Ex Host Bus Adapters Pass Rigorous E-Lab Testing by EMC

COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 16, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Emulex Corporation (NYSE:ELX), the world leader in Fibre Channel host bus adapters and embedded storage switches, today announced that EMC Corporation has qualified the Emulex LP10000ExDC and LP1050Ex PCI Express Fibre Channel HBAs for use with EMC Symmetrix and EMC CLARiiON networked storage solutions. The EMC E-Lab Tested qualification ensures that the two companies' products work together seamlessly. Additionally, these two products will be available to customers from EMC through the EMC Select Program beginning next month.

"EMC and Emulex have a long-standing tradition of bringing quality networked storage solutions to market that maximize our customers' investments in their existing infrastructure," said Mike Smith, executive vice president of worldwide marketing, Emulex Corp. "Being qualified by the rigorous standards of the EMC E-Lab proves our excellence in providing high-performance and scalable Fibre Channel solutions for both current and emerging system bus architectures, such as PCI Express."

Emulex products have been offered through the EMC Select program since it was created in August 2004. Through this program, customers are able to obtain commonly used storage networking components directly from EMC to more efficiently deploy an infrastructure that supports an information lifecycle management (ILM) strategy. Partners involved in the EMC Select Program offer a wide range of high-quality hardware products that complement and complete end-to-end storage solutions from EMC.

"The EMC E-Lab Tested program demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing customers with total solutions utilizing solid components that are pre-tested so they can have complete confidence in their infrastructure," said Chuck Hollis, EMC's vice president of platforms marketing, EMC. "The Emulex LP10000ExDC and LP1050Ex Fibre Channel HBAs play a key role in a customer's storage networking environment and help them better manage their information throughout its lifecycle as part of a compete EMC solution."

The Emulex family of LightPulse(tm) HBAs offers a unique firmware-based architecture and operating system driver compatibility across Emulex's entire HBA product line, which provides customers with a simplified upgrade path, reduced management complexities and also ensures a lower total cost of ownership. Emulex HBAs are fully compatible with EMC's Symmetrix and CLARiiON networked storage systems in Windows and Linux operating environments.
