Another Time Another Place -- Author Recounts Life of Adventure in Service of Her Majesty

LANARKSHIRE, Scotland, Nov. 17, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Some lives are too interesting not to share. Russ Allen has been in the midst of danger for most of his career, which he recounts in the new semi-autobiographical novel, Another Time Another Place (now available through AuthorHouse).

Allen takes readers on a journey few have ever experienced as he recounts events and incidents along a dangerous road and the amazing people who crossed his path. Another Time Another Place tells the story of a naive kid from the city of Coventry, England who seeks adventure in the service of the queen. He joined the British Army, and his skills as a soldier led to assignments with the Special Forces as an undercover operative. His missions took him into perilous environments where he worked to stop terrorism.

After numerous missions where lives were lost and saved, he entered the "brutal world of a high-security psychiatric hospital." The challenges inside the sleek hallways and padded rooms of this institution were like none he had faced before. Allen describes how he dealt with these new faces, who were not the enemy, but perhaps just as volatile as anyone he came into contact with as a soldier. Later, he returned to the "mixed-up dangerous world that is the Middle East." As a military advisor in Saudi Arabia, he strategically battled terrorists with the weapons of wit and information.

A true story about the life, loves and laughs of one simple man from rural England, Another Time Another Place brings unique experiences into the hands and minds of readers across the globe.

Allen hails from the middle of England, "the leafy county of Warwickshire affectionately referred to as 'Shakespeare County.'" He and his wife, Elaine, now live in Scotland, where she is battling leukemia. Another Time Another Place is his first book.
