Our special guest was Neil Batho of http://www.wave-trade.com/?052517 Neil is a "Point and Figure" charting expert. You'll be fascinated with what "Point and Figure" charting is - I know we were.

The market is overbought: From any standpoint, the risk of a pullback seems dramatic.

Alan Greenspan laid out a strong case last week. His comments regarding the U.S. trade deficit, coupled with a sliding U.S. dollar, and oil prices on the rise, are the "fundamental" reasons to look for a market pullback. The charts, also, emphatically argue that on a technical level, there is more risk of down than up right now.

Note that RSI and Stochastics are both at "classic" over-bought levels. Not only are both of these key indicators pointing to more downside risk, the are both "rolling over" ominously.

The recent market run-up was swift. A swift run DOWN is possible. We suggest that if you are in any stocks you tighten your stop/losses. Let's see how the next week settles out.

Sometimes "fundamental" and "technical" analysis methods both give the same sort of reading. That is certainly the case now. In our opinion, when Alan Greenspan, oil prices, the sagging dollar, RSI, and Stochastics all agree, it's probably time to think a bit before going long.

We understand that it may not be "popular" to say that we believe a drop is more likely than a rise, but it's what we believe. But, if the markets do drop, there will be stocks in the Gold sector (see below) or the "Oil Services' sector to look to for leadership. According to Neil Batho (Wave-Trade.Com), Ensco International (NYSE:ESV) is a stock with upside.

Gold continues its "parabolic" climb: Friday, the spot price of gold moved over $447. Gold closed up $3.38 on the day. The gold "tracking stock" (AMEX:GLD) also closed higher.

You may recall what we said in our commentary for October 20, 2004: "We think it probably makes sense to keep about 5% of your portfolio in Gold or Silver. If you have $10,000 in the market, why not pick up $1,000 in Gold and Silver? If you want a short-term investment, Gold and Silver might now work for you. But, if you want a long-term, inflation-hedge that you can carry in your pocket if you want, look into Gold and Silver."

We believe that there is more upside for gold. Inflation, oil prices, and the dropping value of the dollar all argue for higher gold prices - even from these lofty levels. If you trade gold or the "tracking stock", GLD, we see $425 and $42.50 as stop/losses.
