Commonwealth of Virginia Invites Northrop Grumman to the Detailed Review Phase of the Statewide IT Infrastructure Program

HERNDON, Va., Dec. 2, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) has been chosen as one of two companies by the Commonwealth of Virginia to provide an information technology (IT) infrastructure detailed proposal under the Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002.

As part of this phase, the Commonwealth has requested that the two selected companies submit a detailed proposal on ways they would transform and improve the Commonwealth's statewide IT infrastructure to ensure quality services are delivered to state agencies and the citizens they serve. The Commonwealth's IT infrastructure includes network services, desktop and e-mail, data centers, customer care services, and other infrastructure projects and services.

If selected for this contract, Northrop Grumman's IT sector will support the transformation of the IT infrastructure of 90 executive branch agencies that transitioned over the last 18 months to the Commonwealth's consolidated technology agency, the Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA).

O'Neill, president of Northrop Grumman's Information Technology sector.
