Optio Introduces Intelligent Data Capture and Document Processing Solution at Oracle Conference

New offering takes imaging solutions to new levels of performance

SAN FRANCISCO, Dec. 6, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Oracle OpenWorld Conference -- Optio Software (OTCBB:OPTO), a leading provider of document output management solutions, today introduces a new suite of imaging software solutions designed to help customers achieve increased levels of speed, accuracy and functionality in their document-driven processes.

"Optio Imaging Solutions(tm) enable us to help companies manage the entire lifecycle of transactional documents," said Steve Kaye, senior vice president of marketing at Optio Software. "Now our customers can scan, image and archive documents, as well as extract transactional data and integrate it with their enterprise systems, while improving the accuracy and reducing the cost of document-driven processes."

By offering integrated imaging and output management solutions, Optio will provide customers such as Middlesex Hospital with the ability to simplify and streamline document-driven processes. "In our evaluation of Optio Imaging Solutions, we expect to automate our inbound invoice processing and help us decrease the time, costs and errors inherent with our current manual processes," said Alan Ascare, materials management specialist for Middlesex Hospital, a longtime Optio customer in Middletown, Conn. "As a result, we expect to significantly improve data accuracy by extracting basic invoice data, as well as table and line item detail, to feed our accounts payable system. Optio's centralized, web-accessible archive will enable us to eliminate inefficient, paper-based record management, retrieve documents faster and reclaim floor space now occupied by rows of filing cabinets."

"We anticipate that Optio Imaging Solutions will deliver significant improvements in the accuracy and speed of document-intensive accounting processes," said Walter Jann, vice president of information systems for Legend Valve, a leading distributor of valves for residential and commercial applications based in Shelby Township, Mich. "This will enable us to take advantage of vendor discounts and accelerate payment cycles. Optio also provides a repeatable and auditable document management process that can help us comply with Sarbanes-Oxley and other regulatory mandates."

Optio Imaging Solutions combines Optio's industry-leading document transformation, indexing and archiving products with innovative imaging technology from SER Solutions, Inc. (SER) of Dulles, Va. that enables automatic reading, indexing and extraction of information from even unfamiliar and unstructured documents and business correspondence for integration with Oracle and other enterprise applications. Over time, Optio Imaging Solutions scale to process even more documents more accurately -- without the extensive programming required by other imaging approaches. As a result, the solutions deliver greater return on investment, while requiring less programmatic support and overhead costs than traditional imaging solutions.
