Los Angeles World Airports and Rotary Club of El Segundo Bring Santa by Helicopter to El Segundo Elementary Schools

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 8, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Santa Claus flew in by helicopter today treating 250 kindergarten students from Richmond Street, Center Street and Paseo del Rey Elementary Schools in El Segundo to gifts and a holiday event at the Flight Path Learning Center and aviation historical museum located at the LAX Imperial Terminal. The visit was hosted by Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and the El Segundo Rotary Club.

"We are pleased to fly Santa in to give the students a first-hand look at a helicopter and all of the excitement that comes along with it," said Barbara Yamamoto, LAX Community Relations Director. "Such a first-hand look is an education in itself and we are happy that we can bring such a learning experience directly to local students, especially during the holidays."

"The Santa visit is such a big thrill, " said Phil White, El Segundo Rotary Club president. "I think the Rotarians get an even bigger 'kick' watching Santa slowly swirl down from the helicopter to meet us. It has been an exciting opportunity to work with LAWA to make this special visit happen."

LAWA is a self-supporting branch of the City of Los Angeles, governed by a seven-member Board of Airport Commissioners. LAWA's four airports include Los Angeles International, Ontario International, Van Nuys, and Palmdale Regional. Additional information about LAWA may be obtained at www.lawa.org.
