AB Volvo ranked high on Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes


GOTEBORG, Sweden, Dec. 13, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- AB Volvo hits a new top rate on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) and is ranked high on the Pan European Sustainability Benchmark (DJSI STOXX), which includes companies that are judged to actively seek long-term sustainable development.

For the third consecutive year, AB Volvo is included on the DJSI World index as a result of the Group's sustainability efforts within financial, environmental and social issues. AB Volvo is included in the industrial transportation category and is judged best in this group with regard to management of financial issues and above average with regard to management of environmental and social issues.

This year, AB Volvo also qualified for the DJSI STOXX, which comprises 20% of the companies considered the leading sustainability controlled companies on the Dow Jones STOXX 600 index.

The Volvo share has been included since 2002 on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World), which was introduced in 1999 and comprises 10% of the 2,500 largest companies within the Dow Jones Global Index, based on environmental, financial and social factors.
