Make-A-Wish Foundation Selected as Among 'America's Greatest Brands'

TUSTIN, Calif., Dec. 27, 2004 (PRIMEZONE) -- Make-A-Wish Foundation(r) is featured in the most recent edition of America's Greatest Brands, a hardcover book which profiles leading companies from a brand marketing perspective each year.

Currently in its third edition, America's Greatest Brands covers the history, innovations and achievements of these brands and offers the expert insight and opinions of the American Brands Council -- some of the most respected marketing and communications professionals in America.

While the book predominantly features business and consumer brands, the publishers recognized the increasing importance of corporate philanthropy to marketing strategy and decided to highlight the work of nonprofits and charities as well. The participating brands selected Make-A-Wish Foundation along with Habitat for Humanity International and The Metropolitan Museum of Art as philanthropic institutions chosen as "a testament to each organization's reputation and the amazing work that it does," as described by America's Greatest Brands.

"It is no accident that by far the majority of these brands have been built upon a high-quality product or service; lived up to their promises; stood for something distinctive; generated considerable awareness; defined a clear personality and set of values; and consistently maintained faithful to their brand principles," reads the foreword message of Pete McCutchen, Associate Publisher and Carl Meyer, Managing Director of America's Greatest Brands, Inc. McCutchen added, "The selection of Make-A-Wish Foundation speaks very highly of its reputation among leading marketing and communications professionals."

"As part of an organization that is now celebrating 25 years of making dreams come true for courageous children, we are tremendously proud that Make-A-Wish Foundation has achieved this distinctive honor," said Mark Pilon, CEO, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Orange County and the Inland Empire, re-expressing the national organization's statement. "It is a testament to the collective efforts of our generous donors, selfless volunteers and dedicated staff, and drives us to continue reaching new heights in serving children with life-threatening medical conditions."
