Hope You are Well

How was your holiday? We hope you had a wonderfully-relaxant three-day weekend filled with good times, safe trips, and pleasant memories. Our hearts are saddened by the carnage at the hands of the earthquake and Tsunamis that rocked Asia, though. Our prayer is that none of you were affected and that those who are directly affected will receive the aid they need.

The time we have (or lack thereof) on this planet is sometimes starkly reminded to us. The devastation in Asia makes me all the more thankful for the weekend my family had this holiday season.

Squeeze Play

You may recall many of our comments of November. We felt that the market was overbought and due for a correction. The market inched higher. The market inched lower. The market dove. The market soared. Yet, ultimately, the market closed Thursday at another multi-year high.

The grandeur of the market's run since the lows of March, 2003, is, to use an overused word, "breath taking". From the 780's to the 1200's, the S&P is up a WHOPPING 50% or so.

That deserves some serious thought.

We understand the phenomenal unpopularity of taking a cautious stance. Every time we write our feelings that the market is (and it IS) overbought, we know that some of you may not only disagree, but you may become emotionally, well, upset about our opinion.

If you feel that way, please hear me on this point: We would love the market to ALWAYS go up, and NEVER go down. But, that's not possible. As 2005 approaches, we hope you will remain hopeful and yet cautious with your trades.

We suggest now is a GREAT time to take some profits. There is NOTHING wrong with making money. If you're in a profit position in some stocks you've wanted a chance to sell, well, why not now?

Making money is a good thing!

Look, there's no way to predict the "top" or the "bottom", but we think you CAN put your thumb up in the air to feel the breeze (and, please, no thumb-related jokes!).

"Silver and Gold"

Some interesting times ahead for silver and gold stocks. We think more is on the way. Oil prices remain high. The dollar dropped to new lows versus the Euro. The U.S. military involvement with what's left of Iraq continues. The U.S. debt is at record levels. The market is clearly overbought.

Gee whiz, any of these reasons alone seem good enough to look at gold stocks, but all together, they compel us to think you might want to check out the gold tracking stock (AMEX:GLD). GLD looks good to us right now.

If any of you disagree, PLEASE email me. I'd love to hear your take on the gold issue, and "gold stock" issue.
