Clear Channel Selects EMS Satellite Networks for XtremeSat Satellite Services

MONTREAL, Jan. 4, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- EMS Satellite Networks, a division of EMS Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq:ELMG), announced today that it has delivered a DVB-RCS (Digital Video Broadcasting -- Return Channel via Satellite) hub to Clear Channel Satellite Services of Centennial, Colorado. Clear Channel will use EMS's DVB-RCS hub and terminals to serve satellite communications needs within the Clear Channel family of companies, and to the market at large.

In addition to utilizing EMS's standard terminals, Clear Channel has also decided to incorporate EMS's satellite modem in its new XtremeSat(tm) portable satellite terminals. XtremeSat(tm) terminals offer true high-speed connectivity for transmitting and receiving audio, voice and data. With a simple push of a button, the XtremeSat(tm) antenna will be locked onto the satellite from anywhere in the United States, transmitting and receiving content in less than five minutes.

"We have rigorously evaluated satellite equipment alternatives, and have selected EMS because of its superior performance and support," said Don Harms, Vice President and General Manager, Clear Channel Satellite Services. "We look forward to a close relationship with EMS in the coming months and years as we deploy our services."

Don Osborne, Senior Vice President and General Manager, EMS Satellite Networks commented, "We have been seeking a close partner in the broadcasting industry for some time, and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with an industry leader. Clear Channel is a welcome addition to our growing list of global customers now numbering well over 20. We are extremely pleased with this addition to our North American customer base."

EMS's DVB-RCS product and technology solutions enable two-way broadband access for a wide range of networking applications. Bidirectional satellite broadband applications range from Internet access and simple web browsing, to more sophisticated virtual private networks, videoconferencing and voice-over-IP. EMS's DVB-RCS solutions are capable of delivering data transfer rates of up to 45Mbps for downloads and up to 2Mbps for uploads at each remote terminal, or enough bandwidth to support anything from a small business to an entire community from a single remote terminal.
