Buffalo Technology Announces Wireless Network Storage Device

The Wireless LinkStation Network Storage Center Allows Home and Business Users to Wirelessly Store and Share Data and Media Files Over Their Network

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- CES Booth No. RD1130 -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of wired and wireless networking, storage and memory solutions today announced a wireless version of its multiple award-winning LinkStation - the Wireless LinkStation Network Storage Center. The product will be available in capacities of 160GB (HD-H160LWG), 250GB (HD-H250LWG) and 300GB (HD-H300LWG).

Buffalo's new wireless network storage solutions allow home and business users to integrate a high performance storage device into their wireless network. Users can wirelessly store and share data and media files such as videos, photos and music over their network.

"Home storage solutions are becoming more popular, and as users become more sophisticated their demand for higher end solutions increases. That's where the wireless LinkStation comes in," stated Morikazu Sano, vice president of product marketing and public relations. "Our customers asked for the total wireless package and with the wireless LinkStation, they have it. Because it features our AOSS technology, users can seamlessly integrate the LinkStation into their existing network and have the benefit of using one of the most robust yet cost effective network storage solutions on the market today."

The Wireless LinkStation Network Storage Center features 802.11g wireless technology. By connecting the LinkStation to a wired network via its 10/100 Ethernet switch, a wireless network can be created or extended supporting both 128-bit and 64-bit WEP. The product also includes Buffalo's AirStation One-Touch Secure System (AOSSTM). AOSS allows users to instantly install any AOSS-enabled device and set-up wireless security with the push of a button.

The LinkStation is a pre-formatted network storage device that is compatible with Windows, Linux and Macintosh. The product includes FTP server function, which allows users to access and transfer data from any machine with Internet connectivity. Administrators can create user and group access to files and folders. The product includes a built-in print server for printer sharing. The product's wireless capabilities allow users to place their printer anywhere in the home or office. The LinkStation features two USB 2.0 ports for additional storage and provides users with the ability to run multiple streams for simultaneous media download and usage. The solution also features Buffalo's own backup software so users can schedule and customize data protection. The product's silent operation and attractive, versatile design make the LinkStation the perfect storage solution for any network environment.

Backed by a limited two-year warranty and toll-free 24/7 technical support, the Wireless LinkStation Network Storage Center will be available at the end of January 2005 at estimated street prices of $349 for 160GB (HD-H160LWG), $449 for the 250GB (HD-H250LWG) and $549 for the 300GB (HD-H300LWG).
