In RAID configurations, the Mobile DataVault 3DX is used as a removable drive that can be routinely plugged into and easily ejected from the docking bay, in a manner similar to tape cartridges. By taking advantage of software compression enabled by products such as Dantz(r) Retrospect Backup, which is included with many Olixir products, users can store nearly 1 Terabyte of data on each drive, exceeding the storage capacities of most current tape formats.
Proven to withstand non-operational shocks of approximately 1200 G's, the Mobile DataVault 3DX enables users to safely transport, store and archive critical data providing users with the first true tape replacement solution for offsite data archiving and media rotation.

The 7,200 RPM Mobile DataVault 3DX includes 8MB of cache memory, allowing it to transfer a GB of data in less than 50 seconds. An easy-to-install data storage solution for any computing platform, the Mobile DataVault 3DX utilizes an innovative, versatile interface that can be used interchangeably with Olixir's USB 2.0, Firewire, and PCMCIA cables interfaces. In addition, the hot-swappable Mobile DataVault 3DX has the ability to use Olixir's 5.25-inch DataBay, so that the external drive functions as a removable drive, for desktop PC's or other chassis making it an ideal tape-replacement solution for media rotation and offsite archival. The Mobile DataVault 3DX supports plug-and-play and hot-swap operation with Macintosh OS 8.6 and higher, Windows 2000/ME/XP and Linux operating systems.
At a height of 1.40 inches, width of 4.45 inches and length of 7.5 inches, Mobile DataVault 3DX is about the size of a VHS tape and compact enough to fit into the palm of a hand - making it transportable in any briefcase, safe, cabinet or other external storage container. Weighing in at a little over a pound, the Mobile DataVault 3DX can easily be moved. The 3DX package integrates a rugged cooling system for improved reliability.
