Growing with God -- Author Offers Guidance, Encouragement through Stories and Psalms

DALLAS, Jan. 12, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- In her new book, Helen Walters gives readers two types of wisdom: the wisdom of God and the wisdom that comes with years of living an inspiring life. Growing Under the Shadow of His Wings: Life Lessons with Psalms (now available through AuthorHouse) uses the power of biblical psalms to help readers find strength in many areas of their lives.

Walters writes with a heartfelt tone and packs her discourse not only with uplifting verses from the Bible, but also with personal experiences. Growing Under the Shadow of His Wings is about being honest with oneself and reflecting on one's life in the spirit of God.

In sections that address overarching issues such as acceptance, forgiveness, friendships and personal boundaries, Walters asks readers to analyze the current state of affairs in their lives and look to the Book of Psalms for guidance. She counsels readers with an open heart and serves as a conduit for God's message by encouraging readers to interact with the text. Insightful questions help readers look within and chronicle their feelings.

Difficult situations in life are easily handled when honesty and reflection meet with the impact of poignant psalms, Walters writes. Comfort and joy are the products of the memorable lessons presented in Growing Under the Shadow of His Wings.

Walters has been a member of the Episcopal Church of the Incarnation in Dallas since 1944. She is active in the Daughters of the King and the Community of the Holy Spirit Associates. Walters, the mother of two sons, received a bachelor's and master's degree from the University of North Texas and retired after 36 years of teaching.
