Fatburger Issaquah `Family Night' to benefit the LAM Foundation

ISSAQUAH, Wash., Jan. 14, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The third annual Family Night at Fatburger Issaquah 6220 East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE No. D will take place on January 17, 2005 from 5-9pm to benefit the Puget Sound Friends of the LAM Foundation.

What is LAM? LAM is an acronym for Lymphangioleiomyomatosis, a rare, degenerative, fatal lung disease that strikes hundreds of women in their child bearing years. These young women struggle daily just to breathe and lead normal lives. The LAM Foundation provides support, research and hope that someday a cure will be discovered. It is a race against time to find a cure and save thousands of young women and mothers. There is no known cure or cause. An estimated 1,000 women in the United States and 30,000 to 50,000 worldwide have LAM. Many more might be misdiagnosed with asthma or emphysema.

Thanks to generous local supporters and businesses like Fatburger, Costco, Washington Mutual, IKEA, Acura of Seattle, Acme Food Sales, Anderson Chamberlain, Sterling Realty, Bensussen Deutsch & Associates, Gull Industries, Waggener Edstrom Inc, Ken and Marleen Alhadeff Foundation, the Puget Sound Friends of the LAM Foundation has raised more than $1.4 million for research in the past six years.

"We are happy to take part in supporting such a great cause and raise funds for LAM research" said Bob Benardout of Benardout Enterprises, LLC. Bob and his wife Susan are the Fatburger franchisees for the state of Washington. Fatburger generously donates 20% of the day's sales to PSF LAM.

Gina Israel Dichter, a local LAM Patient and her husband Steve are overwhelmed and grateful for such support and by the generosity of the owners and workers of Fatburger. "Even the employees have generously donated their tips for the night to LAM" says Gina in astonishment. Gina adds "This kind of event and publicity really helps us spread the word and reach new supporters". It is also a chance for many of Gina's friends and family to show their support to the local mother of two who was diagnosed with the fatal disease in 1998.

Fatburger features its signature 1/3 lb. Fatburger, made with fresh lean USDA domestic beef and available grilled or charbroiled, plus lean Turkey burgers, Chicken Sandwiches, chilidogs, homemade onion rings, and "fat" or "skinny" fries. A wide selection of toppings, including cheese, bacon, egg, and chili, are available for garnishing Fatburgers or other sandwiches. An assortment of soft drinks is highlighted by creamy milkshakes made with real ice cream. In addition to the Issaquah address, Fatburger restaurants are located in Redmond, Bellevue and now in Lynnwood. Washington's newest Fatburger restaurant is located, in Lynnwood near Alderwood Mall.
