QLogic Corporation and Employees Donate Funds to Help with Tsunami Relief Efforts

Company to be Honored with American Red Cross Humanitarian Award, Jan. 28

ALISO VIEJO, Calif., Jan. 26, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Employees of QLogic Corp. (Nasdaq:QLGC), the company that powers storage area networks (SANs), have made donations totaling $200,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF (United Nations Children's Fund) to benefit victims of the recent tsunami.

The employee donations, which were matched dollar-for-dollar by the company, are being donated to provide food and safe water; healthcare and disease prevention; immediate family supplies; mental health counseling; and disaster preparedness and prevention measures for those affected by the disaster. Employees had the option of directing their donations to either of the two charities.

In recognition of Q-Logic's support of tsunami relief efforts, the American Red Cross will present the company with a Circle of Humanitarians award Friday, Jan. 28 at 2:30 p.m. Pacific Time on the QLogic campus, 26650 Aliso Viejo Parkway, Aliso Viejo, Calif.

"The American Red Cross relies on contributions from generous companies like QLogic both during times of disaster and year-round," says Skip Seitz, vice president of growth & integrated development, American Red Cross. "Through its generous financial commitments and support of both the company and its employees, QLogic furthers the humanitarian mission of the Red Cross."

In addition to supporting Red Cross tsunami recovery efforts, QLogic is also making a significant company-matched contribution to UNICEF. The money will help UNICEF address the immediate and emerging needs of children in South Asia, and will include:

-- Emergency immunization to prevent fatal childhood diseases
-- Supply of clean, safe water and provision of basic sanitation
-- Special feeding for malnourished children and pregnant women
 -- Care for traumatized children
-- Protection for orphans and separated children
-- Provision of education kits and rehabilitation of schools to
ensure return of children to school as soon as possible

"The U.S. Fund for UNICEF is thankful to QLogic and its employees for its contributions on behalf of children affected by the tsunamis in South Asia," said Charles J. Lyons, president of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. "The funds raised will be converted into assistance for those affected."

QLogic's selection of the American Red Cross and UNICEF is a result of those organizations' low operating costs, ensuring that the majority of QLogic's donation would go directly into services for victims of the tsunami.

"Since Dec. 26, we have watched in sadness over the loss of life and unimaginable devastation caused by the tsunami that struck South Asia and East Africa," said H.K. Desai, president, chief executive officer and chairman of the board, QLogic Corporation. "Our employees immediately expressed a strong desire to help, and we as a company felt the need to do our part to maximize their donations. We hope that our contributions will encourage other technology-related companies in Orange County to join us in the response effort."

Donations to the American Red Cross and UNICEF can be made through each organization's Web site. For further information, visit www.redcross.org or www.unicefusa.org.
