Interviews with Unsung Heroes -- New Book Spotlights Everyday People Who Make a Difference

LARGO, Fla. Jan. 28, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Americans need not look far to find bad news; it dominates magazines covers and television broadcasts from coast to coast. Author R. R. Lawrence hopes to help remedy that with his new book, America: The Face of Hope (now available through AuthorHouse). Its pages include seldom told stories of the people Lawrence calls "shadow heroes."

"Compassion is at the soul of America and it is seen in people who give and help others selflessly," says the author. Within the chapters of America: The Face of Hope, Lawrence tells the stories of nine people and their organizations who are positively influencing America. Included are interviews with CEOs of Feed the Children, Children Awaiting Parents, Ronald McDonald House Charities, The Compassionate Friends, the Make a Wish Foundation, The Smile Train and two people from the St. Martin Center in Erie, Penn. He also interviews individuals like Sam Hall and Carolyn Upchurch who use their own money to help people throughout the country and the world.

Among the goodwill activities these people and organization participate in are providing food to children in third world countries, helping children who have been stuck in the foster care system to be adopted, housing parents of hospitalized children who cannot afford to stay in hotels and providing support for grieving parents who have suffered the death of a child. Others are giving clothing, food and shelter to people in their neighborhoods, giving terminally ill children dreams come true, spending time caring for children in poorer regions of the world, donating money for disaster relief and teaching men in prison. "This nature of compassion in America is the hope of the world," Lawrence says.

Lawrence has written for many years in various areas, and has served as a development officer, in public relations, and as a recruiter for multiple institutions and companies. As President of Sea Breeze Enterprises of Florida, LLC, Lawrence works faithfully with an affiliate of that corporation, BrighterDays Books to help people experience brighter days in all the areas of their lives.
