STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich., Feb. 1, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- One of southeast Michigan's leading computer consulting firms has changed its name to DetroitMac, Inc.
Formerly Nisus Network Solutions, Inc., company officials believe the new name works harder to communicate the company's mission to provide "industrial strength creative consulting" to meet the needs of mixed network environments and companies specializing in the Macintosh platform.
"The Mac community is unique in that it is very loyal and close knit," Terry White, founder and president of MacGroup-Detroit, said. "DetroitMac understands the Mac culture and fills a need for a Mac specialist."
Business Manager Erika Easton said, "DetroitMac works closely with the local creative community, including photographers, design houses and printers as well as with small businesses, schools and home users."
"Our Apple-certified technical staff offers consulting services, training and server solutions to an expanding list of Mac-based groups, including medical and legal firms," Easton said. "We are a one-stop shop with a professional staff that has a broad knowledge of a client's total technology environment."
According to White, the number of Mac users in the Detroit area continues to grow as local companies replace Windows and Unix machines with the latest Macintosh technology. He says interest in Apple-based servers is growing due to Apple's increased marketing push, including its local retail stores, coupled with an increase in virus threats for PC users.
Along with its name change, DetroitMac is also increasing its focus on training services, digital video solutions and Windows server alternatives. The company offers free limited phone support for its customers and a free initial orientation visit by an experienced technician.
The company has also adopted a new corporate identity, which is reflected on a new website, www.detroitmac.com. Recent improvements to the website include current news, InDesign training, reviews, specials, and the "Macs in Action" community project. "Macs in Action" is a free community project to network local Mac users and businesses.
