Scantron Performance Series Selected as Finalist in 2005 Codie Awards in Category for Best Assessment Solutions

IRVINE, Calif. Feb. 7, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Scantron Corporation, a recognized leader in education testing and assessment tools for more than three decades, announced today that Scantron Performance Series(tm) is a finalist in the Software and Information Industry Association's 20th Annual Codie Awards in the category for the Best Student Test Preparation or Assessment Solutions.

"The Codie Awards highlight the very best products in our industry," said Tim Loomer, president of Scantron's Testing and Assessment Division. "We are honored that Performance Series has been selected as a finalist in this well-respected program."

Performance Series is a Web-based, computer-adaptive test that educators use for diagnostic purposes, for determining student placement, for progress reporting and to manage instruction. Performance Series is reliable and standards-based and it adapts automatically to each student's instructional level. Because it is Web-based, educators receive instant results and have a clear snapshot of each student's proficiency in mathematics, language arts, science and reading. Educators can also report results at the individual, classroom, school or district level.

The Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) established the Codie Awards in 1986. It is the longest-running awards program in the software and information industry. The program acknowledges the industry's most innovative products and services. More than 1,000 nominations were submitted for the 2005 awards (www.siia.net/codies/2005/finalists.asp), which were evaluated by a broad panel of judges consisting of software trade journalists, mainstream technology writers and experts in educational technology. The award is highly regarded by industry experts and educators.
