"Should Women Investors Be Green With Envy?"

Well, the Super Bowl is over. The most-watched television show each year has come and gone. And, I bet you didn't notice what I noticed.

Sure, you saw all the commercials. Mainstream wallstreet companies like Pepsi, Budweiser and Nike had some interesting new commercials. Newcomer, GoDaddy surely raised some eyebrows with their "live from the floor of the U.S. Senate" type ad. But, no, that's not what I'm talking about.

The game was good and tight. The corporate sponsors like Ameriquest certainly got their money's worth from an audience glued to the screen 'til the very end.

Yet, all that highlights on glaring detail:

No women.

Probably a billion people watched a sports spectacle Sunday night that included no women.

No women as anchors (one sideline reporter, though, Pam Oliver). No women as participants. No women as coaches.

But, you know there were certainly a lot of women in other "roles". You had your cheerleaders, bikini-clad 20-somethings in commercials, and on the arm of team owners.

It seems odd to me that in an investing community of nearly 50 million American women, corporations continue to promote such male-dominated spectacles like the Super Bowl.

I am not, by any stretch, a feminist nor am I a chauvinist. I just found it interesting that so many people watch, spend money on, and cheer for "all things masculine".

The website, DearWomen.Com -- http://www.dearwomen.com -- has quite a few resources for women investors to check out. I doubt that many of the Super Bowl watchers will head to a site like, DearWomen, but then again, maybe they would if DearWomen paid a million dollars for a 60-second Super Bowl ad.

For information on, among other things, the Equal Rights Amendment (remember that?) visit:

American business would be a vast wasteland without the contributions of women investors, politicians, and consumers. Maybe one day we'll see a Super Bowl of women athletes. Wanna know when that will happen?

When corporate America can make more on it than on a male sporting event.

See, in business, there really isn't thing more important than that. It's all about the green. Women investors, I suspect, may have reservations about some of the ads (and the lack of female particpants), but at the end of the day, if their portfolios rise, they're probably not "green with envy", just happy to be "in the black."
