Harrowing Honeymoon -- Gay Couple's Romantic Destination Turns Deadly in Second Book of Mystery Series

EAST HARTFORD, Conn., February 9, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- With a traumatic year behind them, Barnaby Moss and Arnie Kotkin have only one thing on their minds: a quiet trip to Vermont to seal their union and steal a little relaxation. Fate has different plans, however. Murder Junction (now available through AuthorHouse), by Susan M. Hooper, once again plunges readers into the lives of two men with a knack for tracking trouble.

In Belle Harbor Skeletons, the first book in Hooper's series, Arnie and Barnaby discovered their love for each other and came close to losing a lifetime of happiness at the hands of a murderer. Now, they are on their way to celebrate their love with a simple civil union.

The two leave their home in New York and head to Vermont for some much needed time alone. They check into an idyllic bed and breakfast, which is unfortunately the location of an evil plot in the making. When an attractive young guest is murdered, Barnaby and Arnie realize their week in Vermont is going to be anything but simple.

The two lovers encounter a variety of characters as they try to piece together this puzzle. The owners of a local tavern, Gretchen and Whit Grissom, add a lively local flavor to the atmosphere. George Parker, the hateful innkeeper, creates problems for the couple from the moment they arrive. Russ and Mitch, from the local police force, step into the murderous fray as they interrogate the inn's intriguing guests.

Murder Junction weaves suspense, action and complex social issues into a rich tale of greed and malice.

Hooper worked as a legal secretary and assistant for 23 years. She is also well known on the Connecticut craft circuit for her unique creations. With her mystery series, Hooper seeks to "open a few eyes" to the homosexual community without "ruffling a lot of feathers." The premier book, Belle Harbor Skeletons, was recently selected for the Wickham Library reading group, which is comprised of senior citizens. In the words of one member, "If someone had been around to speak so sensitively and honestly about homosexuality when I was a girl, perhaps there would be fewer closed minds today." Another Day, Another Murder, the third book in the series, is now available through AuthorHouse. Hooper will soon publish the fourth installment, Silent Alarm.
