"Taxes and Stocks"
The weather was nice today. At least where we are. I don't know what your weather was like, but I hope it was good! The mild weather got me thinking about spring. Spring got me thinking about the growing season (which I begin in April for my garden). April got me thinking about my birthday (April 14). April 14 got me thinking about...
...April 15...
Taxes.
Taxes are a delicate subject. And, I am NOT a tax expert. But, it's not too soon to discuss the tax season as it relates to the stock market.
Each of the last four years the market sold off into April 15 (give or take a week or so). This year will probably not be any different. Also, the market is really hitting another "overbought" area, so a drop now would not be unusual given the overall conditions (Stochastics, MACD and RSI toward the top of their ranges).
We think that a drop into tax season will probably offer you buying opportunities like it has over the last four years. It's hard to call "the day" of a bottom, but you might want to look at the week before taxes are due for the heaviest selling...
...which is when might want to do your heaviest buying.
