Mesler Appointed Vice President of Organization Development & Strategy at SYSCO Corporation


HOUSTON, Feb. 15, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- SYSCO Corporation (NYSE:SYY), North America's largest foodservice marketer and distributor, announced today that Amanda J. Mesler has been named vice president, organization development & strategy. In this newly created position, Ms. Mesler will be responsible for facilitating and aligning SYSCO's strategic plan and initiatives, determining optimum structures and systems and leveraging business process improvements. Ms. Mesler will assume her new position March 1, 2005.

Ms. Mesler began her career in 1988 with General Electric, serving in a variety of business development positions. In 1994 she joined BearingPoint (formerly KPMG Consulting) as a senior consultant and progressed through various leadership positions including senior manager, partner and then was managing director from 1999 through 2003. Ms. Mesler joined Electronic Data Services in 2003, most recently serving as president and global energy leader.

Ms. Mesler earned a bachelor of science degree in business from Western Carolina University and a master of business administration degree from the University of North Carolina. She and her husband, Greg, and their three children reside in Katy, Texas.
