Dead Girl - Starring Val Kilmer - To Be Released For Free Download Exclusively on NetMusic.com

Controversial, Never-Released Film Coincides With Hollywood Buddha

NEW YORK, Feb. 17, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- For the first time ever, the movie "Dead Girl" - starring Val Kilmer, Anne Parillaud, Adam Howard, Amanda Plummer and featuring Teri Hatcher and Famke Jensen - will be available exclusively through NetMusic.com.

The controversial movie, which centers on dark sexual obsession of necrophilia, was virtually black-listed by Hollywood - and shelved due to its graphic content. Val Kilmer delivers a breakthrough performance as a twisted, "devil's advocate" style psychiatrist who eggs on the murderous intentions of his patient.

NetMusic, owner of the largest catalog of independent music online, launches its Video-On-Demand service with "Dead Girl" and, similarly, focuses on independent-minded feature films.

"'Dead Girl' is the ultimate maiden release for us," said Glen Starchman, CEO of NetMusic. "With music, we've always kept our focus on cutting edge, indie artists. We're extending this spirit now as we branch out into feature film."

"Dead Girl" is available for a free online rental, for one day only, on March 17th exclusively on NetMusic.

"Dead Girl" is written and produced by Philippe Caland, who chronicles his behind-the-scenes struggle with the movie in "Hollywood Buddha", which opens in New York the next day.

"The great irony is that Hollywood Buddha, for me, is about the dilemma of distribution - the struggle artists face at the hands of gatekeepers," said Caland. "The Internet, with sites like NetMusic, is a great leveler. Consumers can be the judge of what comes out. There's now a direct connect between artists to fans."

Caland wrote, produced, directed and stars in "Hollywood Buddha." He also previously wrote and produced the cult classic "Boxing Helena" and produced "Loved," starring Sean Penn.
