Application Deadline Extended to March 31 for Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars Program

$10,000 to be Awarded to One Student From Each of 23 Maryland Counties and Baltimore City


BALTIMORE, Feb. 18, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- The deadline to apply for Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) third annual Engineering Scholars program has been extended to March 31 and interested students from across Maryland are urged to get their applications in quickly.

The company's Baltimore-based Electronic Systems sector is again offering college scholarships totaling $240,000 this school year to promising Maryland high- school seniors interested in studying engineering.

A $10,000 scholarship will be awarded in May to one student in every Maryland county and Baltimore City. Application forms have been sent to all high schools within the state. Students can obtain an information packet containing application details for the Northrop Grumman Engineering Scholars program from their school guidance counselors or online at: http://www.es.northropgrumman.com/engscholars/.

Candidates must plan to attend an accredited college or university as a full-time student in an approved engineering program. The funds may be used for tuition, books, lodging and meals.

Eligible applicants must be a resident of Maryland and a graduating senior from a public or accredited private high school in the state. Applicants must also have achieved a minimum composite SAT score of 1,100 and a minimum GPA of 3.5 (grades 9-12).
