Trelleborg Strengthens Leading Position in Marine Fender Systems

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Feb. 21, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Trelleborg Engineered Systems, a business area within the Trelleborg Group, has signed an agreement to acquire certain machine equipment and other assets related to its Marine Fenders market segment. The selling party is Metso Minerals' Wear Protection & Conveying business line. The acquisition will strengthen Trelleborg Engineered Systems' position as a leading supplier of fender products and systems to harbor facilities throughout the world.

The acquired assets will be integrated in their entirety with Trelleborg Engineered Systems' global operations within marine fender systems. When fully integrated, the acquired operations are expected to add slightly more than SEK 50 M to annual sales. It is estimated that these new operations will already make a positive contribution to earnings during 2005.

With its existing Fentek and Seaward brands, Trelleborg is one of the world's leading manufacturers of marine fender systems. This position will now be further consolidated by the access to the Trellex Fenders brand.
