Advance Nanotech Subsidiary NanoFED Limited Benefits from Royal Society Grant

NEW YORK, Feb. 23, 2005 (PRIMEZONE) -- Advance Nanotech, Inc. (OTCBB:AVNA) subsidiary NanoFED Limited recently announced the launch of a $2M collaborative project with the University of Bristol to develop a new emissive display technology based on diamond dust. The Bristol group comprises lead scientist Dr. Neil Fox, Professor Mike Ashfold in the School of Chemistry and Professor David Cherns, Head of the Microstructures group in the Department of Physics. Hard on the heels of this development, the Royal Society announced a $300,000 award to Professor Ashfold and two colleagues in the School of Chemistry under its Royal Society Wolfson Laboratory Refurbishment Grants Scheme, to enable refurbishment of the laboratory environment available to NanoFED.

As Professor Ashfold commented, "We were thrilled that Advance Nanotech chose to enter into a partnership with us. Previous Research Council and DTI support for our doped nanodiamond work allowed us to reach a position where the technology is now ripe for exploitation. Given the University of Bristol's expertise in small scale structures and in materials formulation, we are ideally positioned to push forward the barriers in this area of nanotechnology. The Royal Society Wolfson award is tremendous news also. It helps ensure that the NanoFED collaboration will be conducted in an appropriate, clean, modern and well equipped laboratory environment."

Dr. Gerhard Rebel of Advance Nanotech stated, "The new laboratory environment available to NanoFED, and paid for by this Royal Society grant, will greatly increase the resources available to our development team."
